Goldhofer’s commitment to sustainable product cycles Leading the way in environmental protection and energy efficiency

The addition of two further ISO certificates to its corporate governance profile is part of a clear strategy pursued by Goldhofer to improve the sustainability of all processes within the Goldhofer Group on a cost-effective basis. With certification of its environmental management system pursuant to ISO 14001 and its energy management system pursuant to ISO 50001, Goldhofer has expanded its quality management system pursuant to ISO 9001 to include two further fields of standardization within an extremely efficient integrated management system.

Goldhofer’s certified environmental and energy management systems reflect the company’s strong commitment to the sparing and sustainable use of the planet’s finite resources and guarantee compliance with current and future environmental regulations. The new integrated corporate governance system will enable Goldhofer to achieve its own ambitious policy goal of offering customers added value through continuous proactive optimization of its performance in terms of energy consumption and the environment during the complete life cycle of its products.

Andreas Mann, Quality Management Officer and Head of Logistics and Organization at Goldhofer, explains: “At our production facilities in Memmingen und Ostfildern we have already implemented a whole series of sustainable processes and systems. Now the time has come for internal awareness-building for the increasingly complex life cycles of our products. Our new integrated management system gives us a better overview of all the environmental impacts – both positive and negative –  of our activities, products and services in a holistic life cycle perspective and enables us to make constant improvements.”

In the Group’s two business fields, namely Transport Technology and Airport Technology, the Goldhofer service team offers customers close cooperation long after they have taken delivery of their vehicles, providing preparatory support for upcoming operations and handling maintenance requirements in the long term. Goldhofer’s new environmental management system has a strong focus on this intensive customer relationship and explicitly takes account of all product life cycle phases, namely:

  • product developmen
  • procurement of materials
  • design engineering
  • production
  • sales
  • after-sales service
  • recycling

The environmental management system also has advantages for customers, drawing their attention to ways of combining a reduced environmental footprint with improved efficiency for operations with the help of Goldhofer’s products and expertise.

The energy management system is the perfect complement to Goldhofer’s quality and environmental management systems, as it relates to the same structural resources and thus generates synergies within the company’s integrated management system. The result is higher energy efficiency throughout the group on the basis of enhanced performance and optimum energy utilization. The further reduction of energy costs and more efficient use of resources improve the economics of all business processes. That in turn strengthens the company’s position on a competitive market, which ultimately benefits customers in particular. Finally, with regard to the Goldhofer Group’s continually growing product portfolio, the company’s integrated management system also supports the establishment of harmonized standards.
